Homemade Vanilla Granola and Strawberry Parfaits

These strawberry parfaits feature low-sugar, homemade vanilla granola that is sweetened with fruit and just a hint of maple syrup. They’re easy to make, nutritious, and delicious!

Hi friends!

Today we’re talking portion control and I’m sharing one of my favorite recipes to practice portion control with – my homemade vanilla granola and strawberry parfaits.

Do you have trouble with portion control? You’re not alone!

Portion control is tough because there is no one-size-fits-all approach – a perfect portion for you is going to be different than for another person even when you have similar characteristics like height and body weight.

That’s because we all have different metabolic rates, activity levels, and energy needs.

So what can you do to help figure out the right portions for you?

  1. Listen to your bod.
  2. Always plate meals and snacks versus noshing straight from the bag.
  3. Eat slowly to give your brain time to register fullness.

Snack foods are great to practice portion control with.

Take this homemade vanilla granola – it’s a delicious, nutritious snack but also easy to consume more than you need – because it’s really good (wink).

I always portion out a serving in a bowl or snack bag if I’m eating on the go – otherwise, I’d probably scarf down the whole recipe in one sitting.

I also like to enjoy it in strawberry parfaits.

Strawberries contain just 8 grams of sugar per serving and a hefty dose of anthocyanins and flavanols – phytochemicals that help fight disease.

You can customize this granola by including your favorite mix-ins including different nuts, seeds, spices, or dried fruit.

Enjoy alone, with your favorite milk, or on top of yogurt.
