Hydrafacial – is it as amazing as they say? Healthista’s Ksenia Lavrentieva say’s it’s the ‘Rolls Royce of facials’ and shares her step by step review
If you want to unclog your face, your body and your scalp – the Hydrafacial treatment is for you.
The tech infused facial that everyone is talking about, Hydrafacial has been said to take three to five years off your face, with no downtime – you can even get the treatment done on your lunch break! With lasting effects that will longer into days to come.
Not only does it cleanse and peel (exfoliating and resurfacing), extract and hydrate (removes debris and infuses skin with intense moisture to quench its thirst), detoxifies, protects and rejuvenates your skin back to life, but it also leaves all those antioxidants and peptides active on your skin for eight hours after, to maximise the glow.

Using Vortex technology, it simultaneously draws out the impurities and at the same time infuses the skin with premium anti-aging cocktail fusion, all clinically trailed, leaving your skin hydrated, revitalised and nourished.
The spiral design of HydroPeel® Tips, used in conjunction with the HydraFacial proprietary vacuum technology and serums, creates a vortex effect to easily dislodge and remove impurities while simultaneously delivering hydrating skin solutions.
Fun fact: this technology was initially brought out for smoke inhalation lung damage, using the same technology that was used to take the smoke from the lungs is now used on your face, body and scalp.

The Hydrafacial Steps:
I was lucky enough to have the full Hydrafacial experience. Starting with my neck and décolleté which were exfoliated and hydrated. This was then followed by red light therapy over those same areas.
Then it was onto my face – a lymphatic drainage technique, using the vacuum technology suction, which felt super relaxing.
This was followed by a glycolic and salicylic acid exfoliation at 7.5 per cent – which dilates the pores for the extraction, followed by a BetaHD extraction, helping to extract all the build up of creams, debris and free-radicals from the skin – this is what gives you that post-treatment glow.
With the final steps being the hydration infusion (which is the moisturising part), this leaves skin plump, firm and hydrated.

They can also use different boosters on your skin, depending on your skin type and requirements. These boosters include everything from anti-aging retinol infusions to rosacea healing infusions. Then, red light therapy follows to seal everything in and reduce any redness.
Using antiox-plus, full of peptides and hyaluronic acid, The finale was the added antiox boost to fuse the treatment.
We finished off with also doing the eye area to improve hydration and blood circulation, and to the lips, to exfoliate and hydrate them also.
One of my favourite parts about this treatment is getting to see all the gunk that is sucked out of your skin, which is super satisfying.
It ranges from cloudy lemon to yellow in colour, with all sorts of little floaty particles, consisting of pollution, make-up and product build-up from clogged creams and oils that have been blocking your pores, goodbye yukky mukky.
I am officially a Hydrafacial Gunkie Junkie!
